Does my lamp come with a warranty?
All
Lava Brand Motion Lamps sold in the U.S. have a 90 day manufacturers
warranty. If your lamp arrives or becomes defective due to
manufacturing in this time period, a new globe will be sent free of
charge. Buyer induced damages are NOT covered.
Why does the wax in my LAVA Lamp settle to the bottom?
Have
you placed your lamp on top of a window? Do not place the lamp near
sources of heat or cold, such as a heater or air conditioner. The lamp
operates best at temperatures between 68F to 72F. Operate the lamp on
flat and stationary surfaces which are at room temperature. How long
have you had your motion lamp? It could be a sign of age or the light
bulb may need to be changed. The length of time a light bulb lasts
varies based on the amount of usage.
I turned my new Lava Lamp on and nothing is happening, is it defective?
During initial warm up of your Lava Lamp, the coil in the globe may
tend to stand on end or float to the top of the globe. If this happens,
keep your Lava Lamp operating for 4 hours or more to allow the "LAVA"
to become completely molten. The coil should then automatically drop to
its correct position at the bottom of the globe. If the coil does not
drop down, twirl the globe gently in the base and the coil will drop.
My 2 LAVA Lamps do not work exactly the same. Is one defective?
Each
Lava Lamp has its own personality. No two Lava Lamps are exactly the
same in all aspects. Keep in mind that this is based on the fact that
you have allowed your Lava Lamp sufficient time for initial warm up.
Never operate your Lava Lamp for more than 10 hours at a time. This
will insure proper operation and long globe life.
Why does my Lava Lamp look cloudy?
Sometimes
due to rough handling in transit, your lamp may arrive looking cloudy.
If your lava lamp arrives cloudy, turn the lamp on until the wax breaks
up and as soon as it begins, shut the lamp off again until it cools. If
running the lamp in these short "bursts" 5-6 times does not result in a
clear lamp, please let us know immediately so we can arrange for a
replacement. Im missing some fluid from my LAVA Lamp.
The colors seem off. What's going on?
Our photos are shot in low to medium light. The colors of your lamp can vary greatly depending on the ambient light. The colors will appear much different in full on dark than they do bright time daylight. Small differences in hues on computer monitors can also account for some small variations.
Can I have some fluid sent to me?
Please
note that the room at the top of the globe is there to allow for the
fluid to expand when it warms up. In addition, there is a tendency for
the fluid level to decrease over time, especially on the older units.
We do not ship the fluid by itself, and we are unable to refill old
globes.
Why does my glass globe have little specks of light in it?
The
little specks of light are actually little air bubbles in the glass.
They are formed as the glass cools down. Not all of the bubbles pop
and they stay in the glass. Why has the color of my Lava Lamp has
faded? The colors in a Lava Lamp will fade if the lamp is placed in a
window or in direct sunlight. The lamp colors may also fade over a long
period of time, or if the lamp is placed near another bright light
source.
Are there any safety features concerning the lamp that I should be aware of?
DO
exercise extreme caution when handling the lamp when it is plugged in.
It takes two to three hours for the lamp to cool once it is turned off.
DO NOT try to force the polarized plug into an outlet. As a safety
precaution, one blade is wider than the other and can only be inserted
one way into an outlet. Lava Lamps also run very HOT. Use caution
around the globe when it's been on for a while.
